Bring back Barmy?

It has been mentioned that Barmy has gone missing. For two weeks now his calming and creative influence has been absent from Greenwich Market. How you must miss his cosy little chats on the correct way to suck eggs. How you must miss his arrogant confident strut and assertive clipboard tapping.

I say don't worry. The poor guy (as you were - that's his brother, who's also gone walkabout) must be burnt out after his huge expenditure of energy on the Thames Festival. He's probably just resting and he'll back among you soon.

Hold on though. It wouldn't be the first time a member of the Greenwich Market team had been "disappeared". Perhaps at this very moment Barmy is the unwilling recipient of a shafting at USM HQ. Perhaps he'll be sighted next at Elephant & Castle clutching a tube of Anusol.

Just in case, perhaps I should start a "bring back Barmy" campaign. What do you think?

The emperor walked to the market
And waved his arrogant hand:
"All these people here are my servants and this my personal land!
I can do whatever I want and for this you all must pay,
Forty sesterces to start and fifty more next day.
You must listen to my poetry whilst I strum upon the lyre,
And any of you which do not smile
will meet their end with fire!"
The merchants looked around themselves and saw the emperor was alone,
For he had put to death his faithful underlings many moons ago.
As one they rose and cried him down, the many he had offended -
Without a word the tyrant fled, for he knew his game had ended.

Is is really all quiet on the western front
Has peace really descended
Is the rumour mill true and can it be
The dictatorship has ended

Oh the joy that rings from the rooftops
Voices triumphant in their call
Life can resume it's usual pace
A breath of fresh air for us all

So take heed of this lesson in people power
May you understand the spirit is strong
Now fun can return to our market place
Because that old Barny has gone !!

Because one of Barny's favourites also sold magic shoes, my stall was put out in the rain where unfortunately they melted.

Hey guys - I think we need to give Patricia a chance. After all, she used to be a trader and we've all just got to accept that Ben isn't coming back as much as that saddens me. I don't think we should judge her as she has only been doing things under the instruction of Barny. Let's give her some fair time without her being under the influence of Barny. I've just got a feeling she may do things differently.

Patricia is already applying the corrosive GSM style in the food court by promoting her favourites from the weekday market and neglecting the regulars who have had to suffer many years under the demented Barny.
The newcomers are given prime positions and carte blanche to serve food how they like. Old hands are left in a kind of information vacuum, whilst their business shrinks.
Patricia, we're talking about peoples livelihoods here, tell us what is happening, explain the changes or you will end up looking just like the last regime with its favouritism and lack of fairness.

Does anyone know what was going on with the newly positioned shabby and half dressed stall at the Durnford Street entrance to the Market on Saturday? My goodness what a shambles! If you are going to put people out of a job or alter established stalls around 7 weeks before Christmas please make sure it's really worthwhile.
