Those stars of modern market management, GSM, were on hand to show the future young business leaders the reality of Greenwich Marketism. The four and a half quid their excellent beaded jewellery made on one of their stalls may have been taken as a rebuff of their business skills by Joe Public. They should not be downcast, as the sheltered rent-free position, and consequent lack of any need to turn a profit, should be taken as an object lesson in how to succeed in today's Greenwich Market.
Meanwhile, Dominique, a real market trader, was stuck outside under a piece of plastic next to the toilets again.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

why were these young enterprise children allowed to trade foc in a prime position on a v busy Sunday with no spare stalls pushing paying traders to the o/side of the Market ??
They should at least pay a % of there takings towards rent and understand the reality of business
Does anyone remember the handout that was distributed in April with the grading system attached? (Think it was given to casual traders only). Well on this sheet there were 4 grades and each grade had an explanation. Yes, so remember, only 4 grades.
Well guess what - Dominique has been graded a 5. And guess what - but only for a couple of months!!! What happens then? Grade 6 ?? Then grade bloody 7 ??
The sheet also stated that people who are in saturated categories can't be graded 1. Well guess what - there are traders in the saturated categories of bags and jewellery that have been graded as 1s. Why is that - ummmmmm - well I think we all know the answer to that question. (This is not an attack on traders by the way - just an attack on the unfairness of the system).
Also, on Sunday there was a free stall inside the market. I saw that an ungraded trader had a spread. (Yes, there are still ungraded traders where Barny hasn't got round to doing his admin after all these months - yawn yawn). And guess what - Dominique was still put outside by the toilets.
Barny isn't in the market much these days at the weekends but we are still ruled by his stupid systems. Systems that cause bitterness and resentment. Systems that are clearly unfair and quite frankly ridiculous. Systems that favour the favoured. Systems that S**t all over the unfavoured.
It's all so personal and it needs to be stopped. The creative priority system is a load of c**p.
We need fair systems that take into account whether people make their stuff or not, people's stall displays and people's attendance. It needs to be a combination of it all.
Head up Dominique - we all love you!!
